about
deb
I've always had a natural inclination to find functional and creative ways to organize and simplify, and I'm committed to using these skills to help people bring about positive change in their lives. After graduating with a degree in art history from Rutgers University, I found a vocation that incorporated my love of photography and a penchant for organizing. Whether in the role of picture editor, researcher, or manager, I put photographs in their place in archives, museums, magazines, and photographers' libraries in New York and San Francisco for nearly twenty years. During this time I honed the skills and passions that led me to become a professional organizer. Throughout my pursuits, I've maintained a strong commitment to social, creative, and civic engagement. I am a volunteer with First Exposures, a youth photographic mentoring education program, as well as a collaborator with Tuber Creations, a promoter of the arts. I've completed trainings through Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT), a preparedness and prevention program taught by members of the San Francisco Fire Department. As an organizer, too, I contribute time and services to meaningful endeavors. In 2008, pro bono consulting and organizing were provided to a residential improvement project in my neighborhood with Rebuilding Together San Francisco. I incorporate eco-friendly practices and mindfulness in both my professional and everyday life, and as a result, I am able to offer clients tools and strategies for incorporating informed choices and habits. These proclivities toward environmental and social responsibility led me to become certified by the San Francisco Green Business Program. In other parts of my life I am a photographer who refuses to give up black-and-white film, a sustainable food advocate who loves sharing her latest local find, an avid cook who considers time in the kitchen a form of meditation, and a voracious reader. I live in San Francisco where a lemon tree fills the view from the kitchen window. I am an active member of the San Francisco Bay Area chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO-SFBA), and in addition to serving on several committees, I hold the position of Chapter Historian. |
